We loved our week long stay at this lovely home with spectacular views. The house is well equipped with all you need to make your stay a pleasure. The down stairs bedrooms are cool and we all slept comfortably. The gardens are pretty with two generous shaded eating areas, not to mention the French boules pit which we used every evening after dinner.
The views from the pool are the best we have ever enjoyed- like an infinite pool. There is also a terrace which is accessed from the lounge and which gets the sun first thing in the morning and is perfect to have your first coffee of the day on. The internet connection is good – extremely important if you have teenagers. If you are lucky enough to be here when the mangoes, figs and avocados are all ripe you are in for a real treat.
The village is a 15 minute walk away or two minute drive down the hill and has all you need either to shop and cook or eat out. There is a bakers, two supermarkets, pharmacy, about 7 bars/ restaurants-most of which are not listed on Tripadvisor or google maps. Our favourite was Messon la Dehesa which has a great menu of the day but all bars did a variation of snacks, tapas etc. Locals were friendly and helpful. We also drove to Velez Malaga in 20 minutes and to Torre del Mar which is just a few minutes further.
We would recommend a visit to lake Vinuela which is beautiful and the village of Comares which is higher still than Benamargosa. Getting to the house from Malaga airport is straightforward and the truly lovely and helpful owners met us at the entrance to the village to show us the last stretch to the house. They also thoughtfully offered to do a small grocery shop for us ( you pay for the groceries) which was far more valuable to us than any welcome pack as we arrived very late on a Saturday night and open shops are had to come by in rural Spain on a Sunday. We were looking for a rural house with nearby amenities and this exceeded our expectations.
